This programme will train you to work as a Nurse in a wide variety of clinical settings, including hospitals and the community. The programme emphasises the importance of working with other professions, and of planned individualised nursing care in partnership with patients. You will learn the importance of caring for patients, communicating with them and understanding their experience of illness.

Over the course of your four-year training, you will develop the professional knowledge, necessary skills and attitude needed to meet the nursing needs of patients who have chronic and acute illnesses. General nurses are educated and trained to nurse children, adults and older people with medical and surgical conditions. They also have an important role in promoting good health and lifestyle.

Nursing programmes at DkIT are offered in partnership with the HSE (North East), St. John of God North East Services, and other agencies which may be used for clinical placement
